Akendra Tensuba

Akendra Tensuba was born in 1978 at Lamlai, Imphal Ukhrul Road, Manipur. He is the son of Tensubam Kullachandra Singh and Chungkham Ningol Tensubam Ongbi Modhu Devi. A passionate literary voice, Tensuba has contributed significantly to Manipuri literature, particularly in the fields of poetry and song lyrics. His published works include Saktam Saklon (2012), Chakcha Yuthak (2013), Nungsit sittana unadi lengle (2023) both collections of poems and lyrics that reflect his creative depth and lyrical sensibility. Over the years, he has received several recognitions for his contributions to literature, including the Thiyam Krishnachandra Radheshakhi Award (2024) from Leimarol Khorjeikol (Leikol) and the Rajkumar Mahavirsana and Tarunishija Mana from the Progressive Writers Association, Manipur. Beyond writing, Tensuba has also penned several short plays broadcast by All India Radio, Imphal, with his play Sengao Lakpa winning the prestigious Akashvani Award in 2010. Actively associated with various literary organisations, Akendra Tensuba continues to support and promote Manipuri literature. Alongside his literary work, he is employed as a compounder at the Government Industrial Training Institute, Takyel.
