Sudhiranjan Moirangthem was born in 1973 at Phubala, Bishnupur District, Manipur. He earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Manipur University. Despite his academic background in science, his enduring love for literature led him to become one of the founding members of the Fiction & Poetry Club, Manipur.
He is widely recognized as a prominent short story writer in Manipuri literature. Many of his works have been adapted for radio drama and staged by theatre groups, including All India Radio, Imphal. His stories have also transcended linguistic boundaries, being translated into English and published by renowned institutions such as Sahitya Akademi, Manipur State Kala Akademi, and various publishers outside the state.
Sudhiranjan’s first short story collection, Nungsiraba Marupki Mapao (2004), earned him the Thokchom Jogendra Ningsing Sana gi Medal in 2005, marking his emergence as a significant voice in contemporary Manipuri fiction.
At present, he serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Jiri College, continuing to balance his scientific profession with his literary pursuits.
