Parshuram Thingnam

Thingnam Parshuram was born in 1989 at Kakching Khunou Awang Keithel Leikai. He is the son of Thingnam Tomba and Thingnam Ongbi Tembi, and has one elder brother and one younger sister. He is married to Kh. Omeshwori, and they have two sons.

Parshuram began writing from a young age and has emerged as one of the prominent younger voices in contemporary Manipuri literature. He has published three poetry collections — Meegi Machu (2004), Ei Amasung Eigi Ema (2011), and Matam gi Sheireng 37 (2018). His second book, Ei Amasung Eigi Ema, received several notable recognitions, including the 1st Arambam Ibungohal and Binodkumari Literary Award (2021) from the Patriotic Writers’ Forum, Manipur, the 1st Lairelakpam Dharambir Literary Award (Young Creative Writer, 2014) from the Cultural Forum Manipur, and the Thokchom Jogendro Ningsing Selgi Mana (2014) from the Naharol Sahitya Premi Samiti, Imphal. His third collection, Matam gi Sheireng 37, was awarded the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar (2023) by the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi. He has also co-edited and published an anthology of Manipuri poems titled Sheireng Sheireng on the occasion of Manipuri Poetry Day.

He is the Founder General Secretary of the literary organisation Apunba Lamjing Khorjei Lup, Manipur. His poems have been widely published in literary journals, newspapers, and anthologies, and have been broadcast on All India Radio, Imphal, and Doordarshan, Imphal. He has also participated in numerous literary programmes organised by the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, and other literary organisations.

Alongside his literary pursuits, Parshuram is a photographer, videographer, and filmmaker. At present, he serves as the Associate Editor of Mapao, the literary journal of the Fiction and Poetry Club, Manipur.
