OC Meira (Oinam Meira) was born in 1977 at Chana, Imphal East. He is the third son of Oinam Tunan (Chana Lukhoi) and Khaidem Nungthilchaibi (Chana Lembi). He holds an M.A. in Manipuri from Assam University and has been an approved artist of All India Radio, Imphal, since the age of 19. He also served as the Executive Editor of Huiyen Lanpao for the Meitei Mayek edition. Meira’s published works include Ayuki Likla (Poetry, 2007), Kaidongpham (Prose, 2008), Saktam Khara Wakhallon Khara (Prose, 2011), Thamoi Paodam (Prose, 2016), and Naopuriba Numit (Poetry, 2024). In addition to writing, he is an accomplished filmmaker, having created 11 feature films and around 10 documentary and short films. He is actively associated with several literary and cultural organisations, including Patriotic Writers Forum, where he serves as Founder Secretary, Writers Forum, Imphal, Ashei Wafong Yokhat Lup, Sheipal, and the Fiction and Poetry Club. Over the years, he has been recognised with several awards, including the Best Lyricist Award (2014) by Chingtam Apunba Seishak Lup, the Chandrasakhi Laishram Chumthang Award (2014) by Sahitya Seva Samiti, Kakching, the Wahengbam Ongbi Mombi Devi Memorial Award (2017) by Manipur Theatre Centre, Assam and Best Lyricist Award MANIFA 2025 by Thouna Manipur and Film Forum Manipur.
